CARD Mutual Benefit Association (CARD MBA) celebrates its 22nd Founding Anniversary and Microinsurance Day with the theme “Reshaping Microinsurance Industry through Digital Transformation” on September 9, 2021.

CARD MRI’s executive officials including Founder and Chairman Emeritus Dr. Jaime Aristotle Alip, CARD MRI Managing Director Aristeo Dequito, and CARD MBA CEO Jocelyn Dequito graced the virtual celebration. Notable personalities were present as well including Insurance Commissioner Hon. Dennis Funa, RIMANSI Executive Director June Jay Perez, and Microinsurance MBA Association of the Philippines (MiMAP) President Emeteria Quijano. Also in virtual attendance were the institution’s Senior Advisers, Executive Committees, members of the institution’s Board of Trustees, CARD MBA employees, and coordinators.

Glaring Recognition

In her message, Ms. Quijano recognized CARD MBA as a pioneer in the mutual microinsurance industry in the country. “CARD MBA leads the country’s 17 MBAs in achieving their collective mission of having 12 million members and insuring 48 million family members by 2024. CARD MBA also opened the doors to our local MBAs to join the community of mutual microinsurance companies of the world,” Ms. Quijano said on CARD MBA’s impact on the MBAs of the country.

Insurance Commissioner Hon. Funa expressed his appreciation of the institution’s achievements in helping Filipinos with its digital innovations. “With the pandemic, digitalization and online transactions are becoming the new normal for businesses. I have faith that CARD MBA will continue its innovations for its members to adapt to these challenging times and that CARD MBA will remain as one of microinsurance’s formidable allies in upholding the welfare and financial literacy among the Filipino people,” Hon. Funa said on his hopes for CARD MBA in the future.

Highlights of the Event

Several announcements and awards were given during the institution’s celebration. First, the Mutual Benefits Association launched their “Panatag Ka” mobile application for their clients and employees. The application makes filing claims and claims processing easier and more convenient for CARD MBA’s patrons. The development of the application is part of CARD MBA’s digital transformation.

The virtual event also recognized the outstanding MBA Coordinators as well as CARD MBA’s exemplary employees through its “Natatanging MBA Coordinator” and its 8th “Annual Staff Citation” programs.

Right Track

“It is CARD MBA’s true mark to always be responsive to our members’ needs, especially during times of uncertainties. Just recently when Typhoon Jolina wreaked havoc in the Samar area, our MBA coordinators and staff immediately responded to the needs of our members. With haste, they tended to the claims of our members. I hope that this celebration serves as an inspiration as we strive to enhance the quality of service for our fellowmen,” Dr. Alip said during his speech.

Ms. Jocelyn Dequito also expressed her gratitude to their partners for helping them in their journey of protecting millions of Filipino families from unanticipated events including death and calamities.

“Typhoon Jolina, like any other adversity that tests our mettle, teaches us to be armed and ready for the unforeseen events in our lives. Thanks to everyone who has been with us, our staff, our MBA coordinators, even CARD MRI’s Disaster Management Committee, and our clients, we are on our way to achieving our 10-20-80 strategic goals to reach out to 20 million clients and insure 80 million individuals in the next 10 years. Let us look forward with hope, knowing that we can achieve this together,” said Dequito.

To formally close the celebration, Mr. Aristeo Dequito mentioned the path that CARD MBA is taking for its clients. “The digital transformation of the microinsurance industry is very timely, and CARD MBA’s digitalization efforts are on the right path. In the world of insurance, speed, efficiency, and timeliness are important for our members. Through our various digital endeavors such as the Panatag Ka application and many more, we can serve our clients efficiently especially during the pandemic,” he concluded.

CARD MBA is CARD MRI’s insurance arm, extending their financial services to CARD’s clients in the form of death benefits, medical subsidy, and many more. Since its inception in 1999, it has more than six million active members and 22 million insured members nationwide.
