Mothers Know Best

As a mother, CARD MRI Microentrepreneur Rhodora Angeles wants only the best for her family; best food, best health, best life. Little did she know that her concern for her daughter’s health will open a new opportunity for her and her family that would change their lives.

Browsing through her daughter’s snacks, Rhodora’s interest got piqued by one juice drink. Remembering that it is her daughter’s favorite, she researched on the effects of its ingredients. Seeing that most of it are processed, therefore unhealthy, she tried to recreate the taste of the juice using only healthy ingredients. Her hard work paid off as her daughter and family loved it. She would then take further steps to improve the drink for her family.

Using healthy ingredients such as Malunggay, Calamansi, and Turmeric, she improved her initial recipe. Because of the natural ingredients, it made her product even healthier as Malunggay helps the body heal and build muscle, Calamansi boosts the immune system, and Turmeric serves as an antioxidant. Though delicious, it took her until 2014 to perfect her recipe.

Stepping into the Limelight

Naming it Trio Juice, from the number of the main ingredients, she then shared it to her churchmates and friends. Because of the positive feedback, she was encouraged to share it to a larger audience. From her friends, it made its way to catering services. The public loved it. The reaction convinced her to sell it to the market, gaining attention.

Rhodora’s product was indeed a good one, reaching places far and wide. Her products made it to festivals, malls, and special events and occasions. Some notable places where her Trio Juice was showcased are Paranaque and Mindanao.

Mother’s Helping Hand

Business was good but just like any other business, problems always come. She encountered having insufficient funds to support the public demand. She also had problems concerning the logistics and budgeting that made it seem impossible to get through. Lastly, the pandemic seemed to be the nail in the coffin of her problems. All seemed lost until Mga Likha ni Inay (MLNI) offered a hand that would take her business to new heights.

With the help of MLNI, she was able to continue her TRIO Juice production and now provides livelihood to almost 15 families in her barangay in Calauan, Laguna. Her product has also reached a far wider audience, thanks to MLNI nationwide reach.

Through MLNI, Rhodora was able to extend the care and concern of a mother to her daughter on a grander scale. Truly, the care of a mother is exceptional. What started as a concern for her daughter has made Rhodora a business owner who supports the mothers of the country in caring for their family, proving that mothers do know best.
