Publishing House brings storytelling in GenSan

CARD MRI Publishing House held another storytelling activity during CARD MRI’s Kaunlaran Caravan in General Santos City on October 18, 2019. The event featured “Ang Magic Alkansya ni Carding,” one of the publications of the institution. More than 80 children benefitted from the event.

The storytelling activity is part of CARD MRI’s financial literacy program. It featured the story of a young boy’s struggles to save money. By the end of the story, it is expected that the children will understand the importance of savings.

The story also highlighted how CARD MRI’s financial institutions promote saving for children. As a matter of fact, CARD Bank, one of CARD MRI’s microfinance-oriented rural banks, offers kiddie savings account with a minimum deposit fee of only PhP100. CARD SME Bank, as well as CARD MRI Rizal Bank, offer savings account for children through their Maagap Savings Account and Agap-Ipon Kiddie Savings Account, respectively.

Said CARD MRI Publishing House President and Chairperson Ms. Marilyn Manila, the activity is their institution’s way to help promote financial literacy at a very young age.

“CARD MRI, through its member institutions, has been providing trainings and seminars on financial literacy. By holding a storytelling activity for kids, this is Publishing’s contribution to creating financially-wise communities,” said Manila.

Aside from the fun story, participants of the storytelling event received a kit consisting of art materials, as well as a copy “Ang Magic Alkansya ni Carding.”

The storytelling activity is one of the mainstay programs of CARD MRI’s Kaunlaran Caravan. Quarterly, CARD MRI and its member institutions visit communities all over the Philippines to conduct its various community development programs in one place through Kaunlaran Caravan. Among these programs are free medical and dental check-up, livelihood training, and product development.
