CARD RBI organizes series of Savings Caravan for 2019

CARD MRI Rizal Bank, Inc. (CARD RBI), a microfinance-oriented rural bank under the CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institution (CARD MRI), held a series of Savings Caravan in different parts of the country.

The caravan aims to educate and spread awareness about the importance of savings to its clients and the public.

CARD RBI’s 2019 savings caravan started in May in Cauayan City, Ilagan City, Tuguegarao City, Appari and Solana in Cagayan Valley and last at Argao and Carcar in Cebu; and Ormoc in Leyte on August.

A total of 13.2 million savings deposits from 2,912 savers was chested in the bank.

Save right away

The caravan started with motorcade followed by short activities for its clients and their kids, encouraging the youth to save their money in the bank by opening an Agap-Ipon account at CARD RBI. Agap-Ipon is open for ages 16 years old and below. Kiddie savers were also given coin banks that they can use before depositing their accumulated savings in the bank.

“Kids, at a very young age, should know how to learn to save and be more financially ready for their future. Through Agap-Ipon, we can secure their tomorrow,” said Elma Valenzuela, CARD RBI President and CEO.

There are also different types of savings products that fits the needs of their clients: Bantay-Ipon or Special Savings Account, Kusang-Ipon or Regular Savings Account and the Pangakong-Ipon or Pledge Account.

Be thrifty for imminent purposes

“We are encouraging our clients to have a habit of saving. This will help them have a source of funding in the future without having a problem where to get or lend money,” added Valenzuela.

CARD RBI aspires to eradicate poverty by providing equal access to financial services for all. To date, CARD RBI has a total of 441, 000 clients served with 2.6 billion savings deposit.
