Microfinance bank now ready to go mobile

Gone are the days when people lived in small marching steps. In today’s fast-paced dynamic business environment, we need to cope with the fast technological advancements. With demanding schedules for business, work, and family, mobile banking brings convenience to every bank client.
CARD Bank, a microfinance-oriented rural bank, is the first microfinance banking institution in the country to explore mobile banking platform to deliver improved service to its microfinance clients.

Konek2CARD: your access to your finances

The mobile banking service of CARD Bank called konek2CARD will give its client an access to their finances by using their Android phones. The konek2CARD started in 2012 with few features but has later evolved, providing more dynamic banking transactions.

The konek2CARD allows a client to monitor CARD Bank pledge and Matapat (ATM) savings accounts anytime and anywhere through its application. CARD Bank clients can now check their balance, transfer fund, pay loans, check their transaction history, and view mini statement.

CARD Bank sees the crucial role of mobile banking service to its more than 2.2 million clients all over the country. “With our drive to bring more time-saving and convenient services to our clients, we will continue to advance konek2CARD for more banking transactions like e-load, mobile remittances and bills payment to cater their changing banking needs,” Ms. Marivic Austria, CARD Bank President and CEO, said.

The konek2CARD was designed to provide efficient services with good security features to protect banking transactions.

Helping communities

As the konek2CARD mobile banking app features deposit and withdrawal transactions, clients can transact these through cash in/cash out through an agent. An agent can either be member or non-member who will qualify on the given criteria. Such agent can generate extra income through modest fees out of cash in/cash out transactions.
“As we want to deliver the best technology to bring financial services within the reach of the grassroots Filipinos, we always delve into the possibilities to create or increase the income-generating activities of our members and the communities that we serve,” said Austria.

Promoting financial inclusion through mobile banking

“Most Filipinos own smartphones. With the konek2CARD application, we aim to promote financial inclusion. Through this mobile application, we are able to reach more unbanked and underbanked communities and encourage people to do banking with us because of its convenient features,” Austria added.

CARD Bank has been awarded by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas as a Gold Hall of Fame Awardee as Outstanding Financial Inclusion Champion together with the CARD SME Bank and Rizal Bank, Inc. These three banking institutions are members of CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI).
