Corazon Blanquisco

Owner of RTW May Ann

Corazon-Blanquisco

Corazon Blanquisco was employed as a sub-contractual trimmer in a garment factory of her ninong for more than 10 years. She had always wanted to put up her own business someday but lacked the capital to do this.

In 1988, armed by passion, and the experience and skills she gained over the years, Corazon took the chance to venture into a garment business of her own. She started RTW May Ann, named after her youngest daughter, with an old sewing machine borrowed from her ninong and a meager capital of P7000 and created tangas, robes and chalis sandos for kids.

Her husband, children and nephew initially helped her run the business. The fabrics they used were sourced from Taytay, Rizal. As her business grew and the orders increased, she hired 11 sewers to support the production. RTW May Ann now produces semi-gowns, skirts and a variety of ready-to-wear clothes and delivers these to their customers in Divisoria, Pasig and Baclaran. Her average annual sales reach as high as 1.6M with an average annual profit of P480, 000.

Nanay Corazon gained a lot of experiences by being hands-on with her business. She considers CARD to be instrumental in the growth of her business. Inspired to dream bigger, she plans to buy new sewing machines from her next loan and hire additional sewers to supply the increasing demand for her RTWs.
